Rigid Blue Yucca

This is a tall, strikingly blue yucca that can grow 12-15’ tall and is either solitary or occasionally has multiple stems. The individual leaves are about 3’ long. White flowers on 2’ panicles occur in spring.
Full sun is best but this species can tolerate some shade. Low water when established—monthly or bi-monthly in summer if the drainage is good. Hardy to 5-10°F.
The species name, rigida, means rigid, referring to the leaves of this yucca which is relatively stiff compared to other species.
This species grows in ravines of stony soil and limestone scrubland at elevations of 1,000–2,500 metres (3,300–8,200 ft) above sea level in Mexico (Chihuahua, Coahuila, Durango, and Zacatecas.
