Bahiopsis parishii

Semi-evergreen shrub 4x4’. Can bloom almost any time of the year but mostly November through April.
Full to part sun, can even take reflected heat. Moderate to low water when established. Hardy to about 10°F.
Larval host for several moth species. Nectar rich flowers attract many insects. Larval host for the butterfly California Patch (Chlosyne californica).
Bahiopsis is named for Juan Francisco de Bahi y Fonseca (1775-1841) a Spanish botanist, and opsis which indicates a resemblance, while parishii is named for the brothers Parish, Samuel Bonsall Parish (1838-1928) and William Fletcher Parish (1840-1918), botanical collectors who lived in California. Formerly known as Viguiera deltoidea var. parishii.
Found on plains, along arroyos, and slopes, always in xeric conditions below 5,000 ft
